On the state level, Backdoor Theatre's
production of "HOW I LEARNED TO
DRIVE" advanced to the
American Association of Community Theatres Southwest
Regional Festival, held in Duncan Oklahoma in April.
Backdoor Theatre also recieved the "Audience
Acclaim Award,"an award selected by theatre
peers. In addition to these two great honors, all five Backdoor
actors were named to the State ALL-STAR cast,
the only company to put more than one performer into that elite
group. On to Regional.
At the regional festival, Backdoor competed against theatres from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisana & New Mexico for the honor of advancing to the AACT/Fest Nationals Festival in Harrisburg PA in June. Here's what happened there:
Backdoor's HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE
performed Saturday night (4/21) at the Southwest Region AACT/Fest
in Duncan OK. Backdoor's show was named ALTERNATE for SW
Region VI...
In
addition, Jennifer Wicker, Buckley Sachs, Elizabeth Speer &
Amy Morgan (as the Ensemble) received Acting Awards.
Gare Brundidge was recognized for excellence in directing
and lighting design. More awards than any other show
participating... including the show that advanced.
CONGRATULATIONS to the company for representing our
theatre, our community and our state in fine fashion!
