Music by Richard Rodgers Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
THE SOUND OF MUSIC TAKES CENTER STAGE AT BACKDOOR THEATRE!
Backdoor Theatre kicks off the 2002 mainstage season with a celebration of the life of Richard Rodgers! And what a way to celebrate, with the world’s most beloved musical, THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This delightful tale is the true story of the Singing Von Trapp family. Directed by Gare Brundidge, THE SOUND OF MUSIC features an exciting cast of theatre favorites and some dynamite new talent! Principal players include Valerie Hornsby as "Maria" and Larry Sharp as "Captain Von Trapp". The Von Trapp children are played by Juliah Broyles (Liesl), Max Salazar (Friedrich), Ashley McWhirter (Louisa), Corey Rauscher (Kurt), Emily Clements (Brigitta), Hannah Smith (Marta) and Alyssa Aultman (Gretl). No production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC would be complete without a convent filled with nuns. The nun contingency is headed by Amy Morgan as Mother Abbess and includes the lovely voices of Jamie Keeter (Margaretta), Angi Canada (Berthe), Ruth Learst (Sophia), Julie Aultman, Gail Fuller, Lindsey Mathews, Lisa Reynolds, Dana Scott, Jessica Scott, Jeri Sharp, Rebecca Warren, Laura Warren and Robin Robbins. Buckley Sachs plays Max Detweiler and is complemented by Elizabeth Speer as Elsa. David Koontz plays Liesl's love interest, Rolf. The company is rounded out with performances from Roma Prassel as Frau Schmitt & David Cerreta as Franz.
THE SOUND OF MUSIC includes wonderful well know musical numbers such as: " The Sound of Music," "Climb Every Mountain", "Sixteen Going On Seventeen", "Something Good," "My Favorite Things" and more.
Don’t miss this Rodgers and Hammerstein celebration!
