A Grand Night For Singing

Music & Lyrics Rodgers & Hammerstein
Concept Walter Bobbie

"Thoroughly entertaining... eye-catching choreography and staging... you can't get better than this Backdoor cast... hands down, the most finely tuned cast in town... vocals are right on... amazing vocal interplay!"  -- Times Record News

Taste and imagination, the two key ingredients for a first-rate revue, abound in this fresh take on the music of Rodgers & Hammerstein. Imagine "Shall We Dance?" as a comic pas de deux for a towering beauty and her diminutive admirer, or a lovelorn young lad asking the musical question, "How do you solve a problem like Maria?" But that's precisely the kind of invention lavished upon this new revue, with innovative musical arrangements including a sultry Andrews Sisters-esque "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out-a My Hair" and a swingin' "Honeybun" worthy of the Modernaires. This Director’s showcase will delight audiences with goodtime musical fun!

The cast and crew of A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING were in Ft. Worth over the weekend for the AACT/Texas State festival. Backdoor Theatre's production performed on Friday night (March 20) to an enthusiastic audience, but alas... a win this year was not to be. However, the Backdoor gang did not come home empty handed! Backdoor received honors with the "most theatre members in attendance" and was awarded the coveted BEST ENSEMBLE AWARD. In addition, Buckley Sachs was named to the TEXAS STATE ALL-STAR CAST! We are very proud of GRAND NIGHT and congratulate the cast & crew on their accomplishments!

The cast and crew of A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING were in Plano Saturday February 1st at the new Courtyard Theater. (Great space...go check it out.) The performance was for the TEXAS NONPROFIT THEATRES/AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY THEATRES bi-annual festival cycle. This first level is called a QUAD fest because Texas is divided into four areas due to the immense size of our state. Backdoor Theatre's production advanced to the state festival to be held in March at the Scott Theatre in Ft. Worth. In addition, Backdoor divas Amy Morgan and Jennifer Wicker were named to the TNT/Quad II ALL-STAR CAST. At Backdoor, we are very proud of these folks and congratulate them on their accomplishments!
