Backdoor Theatre presents...
Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN kicks off Backdoor Theatre's 2004 Season. This marvelous revival follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill (played by Gare Brundidge) as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. Hill's plan is to skip town with the cash are foiled when Cupid strikes and he falls for Marian the librarian (played by Elizabeth Speer), who transforms him into a respectable citizen by the show’s final note. THE MUSIC MAN is filled with show stopping music like; 76 Trombones, Shi-poopi, Till There Was You, Ya’ Got Trouble, Lida Rose, My White Knight and many more lively tunes. In addition, THE MUSIC MAN features a melodic traveling quartet and large cast of energetic singing and dancing characters. This is family entertainment at its very best. What a splendid way to begin Backdoor Theatre's 33rd year of producing quality theatrical productions.
