When Elwood introduces his imaginary friend, Harvey, a 6 ½ foot tall rabbit, at a party,
his sister, Veta decides to have him committed. Problems arise when Veta is
mistakenly committed because she says living with Elwood's hallucination has caused
her to see Harvey! When the truth comes out, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion.
When he shows up at the sanitarium looking for his long lost friend, Harvey,
it seems that Elwood's delusion has had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors.
Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn't so bad after all.
