About Creative Aging Series:At Backdoor Theatre, we believe theatre is for everyone, and creativity doesn't come with an expiration date!
Our Creative Aging Series was created in 2025 to provide theatre opportunities specifically for adults aged 50 and older while celebrating the talent, experience, humor, wisdom, and joy they bring to the stage. While many of our productions naturally include performers of all ages, there are often fewer opportunities for older adults to take on featured and leading roles, or roles that aren't simply Grandmother, Retired Judge, or Elderly Neighbor #7. This series gives those performers a chance to take center stage, challenge expectations, and show our community that creativity, storytelling, and fun don't have an age limit! |
Why It Matters:

It's about making friends.
Learning something new.
Taking a risk.
Building confidence.
Finding a place where you belong.
For some participants, the Creative Aging Series is a chance to return to the stage after years away!
For others, it's their very first audition!
No matter their experience level, our goal is the same: to create a welcoming environment where people can connect, create, and have fun!

2025 - Grease
Our inaugural Creative Aging Series production, Grease, featured a cast and crew ranging in age from 50 to 75 years old! Together, they performed nine sold-out performances and proved that you're never too old to learn choreography, sing your heart out, make new friends, and have a great time!
