What's it about?

CONTEMPORARY MUSICAL DRAMA | ADULT THEMES

From the outside, the Goodmans look like a typical suburban family. Dad goes to work. Mom makes breakfast. Their teenage children navigate school, relationships, and growing up.

But inside their home, the family has spent years living with the effects of Diana's bipolar disorder and a grief they have never fully escaped.

As Diana moves through doctors, medications, and increasingly difficult treatment decisions, her husband Dan tries desperately to hold their family together while their daughter Natalie struggles with what it means to grow up in a home where so much attention has always been focused somewhere else.

With a powerful contemporary rock score, Next to Normal doesn't offer easy answers or a neatly wrapped ending. Instead, it tells a deeply human story about mental illness, grief, love, memory, and a family trying to find a way forward.

Winner of three Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Next to Normal is emotional, challenging, funny in unexpected places, and ultimately filled with hope.
