Pay What You
Can Performances

Backdoor Theatre’s commitment to making theatre accessible for our entire community is assisted by our Pay What You Can (PWYC) program.  This program is aimed at providing increased access to live theatre and the performing arts for our entire community.

We strive to make theatre accessible to all.  We never want the cost of a ticket to keep families from going to see live theatre.  With PWYC, theatre‐goers from all walks of life can pay a price that is affordable for an entire family.  Patrons can pay what they can afford to see a show.

How do I reserve my tickets?
You must reserve your PWYC tickets by reserving them online here  or  calling our Box Office at 940.322.5000.  At that time, you may donate over the phone with a debit or credit card, or donate by cash or check when you arrive for the show.

How much should I pay?
We do not set or suggest a minimum amount for our Pay What You Can.  We simply ask you to pay what you are able.

What if I can only afford a dollar?
Then this is the performance for you.  No questions asked - just come in and donate whatever you can.

Does anyone donate more than they have to?
Yes, we have many wonderful supporters who donate more!  They help ensure that we can continue this program.

What is the downside of PWYC?
If you wait to reserve your tickets for a PWYC performance, there is no guarantee that a seat will be available for purchase.  PWYC performances are limited and seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you want to guarantee yourself a seat, we recommend purchasing early through our Box Office.

Sunday, November 27th @ 2 PM

You MUST reserve seats.
You can do so online or
by calling 940.322.5000
Is there a way to save money on tickets other than PWYC?
You may purchase Season Tickets and by purchasing in large groups (10 or more).

What if I can afford a regular ticket price, but want to attend the PWYC performance date?
We ask that you hold off reserving your tickets as long as possible to give those that need the PWYC performance a chance at tickets first.  If this is the only performance date that works for your schedule, we ask that you reserve your tickets for this performance and donate the full ticket amount (or whatever fits your budget).  Donate more to cover the cost for someone else!
