Backdoor Theatre's Theatre School
What is Theatre School?
The mission of Backdoor Theatre School is to ignite the curiosity and creativity of students across all ages through theatre. Through the dramatic process, we invite exploration into the beauty, diversity, and challenges of the world, aiming to nurture each student's unique voice, imagination, and understanding of drama's societal impact.
Our Theatre School, offered in both Fall and Spring, is carefully crafted to provide a fulfilling experience while addressing the individual needs of students—physically, mentally, and creatively. With all of Backdoor Theatre's Youth Programs, our goal is to deliver a theatrical education within a safe and nurturing environment. We believe in creating an enjoyable learning experience for every student, empowering them to discover and harness the enchantment of theatre.

Backdoor Theatre's Fall 2024 Semester of Theatre School - YOU'RE INVITED! This semester, our Theatre School students, guided by local theatre experts in all things theatre, will be diving deep into what it takes to bring a theatre to life—both on and off the stage! At Backdoor Theatre, we’re dedicated to providing an eye-opening arts education that goes beyond the stage. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to deepen their theatre knowledge, these semester offers a unique opportunity to explore ALL the possibilities in the theatre world! Tuition for each student is $100 for the semester. Please note, there will be no classes on Oct. 14th and 15th. |
Cast (K-5th Grade): Our youngest students will be busy learning the basics of theatre etiquette. They’ll work together to create fun and informative videos that will guide you through the Open House. As tour guides, they’ll share what they’ve learned about the important roles that keep a theatre running smoothly.
|
Troupe (6th-8th Grade): Our middle schoolers will take on the challenge of researching famous theatre personalities. They’ll design costumes and will become living wax figures of these iconic people, interacting with you and sharing what makes these figures so important in theatre history.
|
Company (9th-12th Grade): Our high school students are getting hands-on experience in running a theatre. They'll create their own theatre company from the ground up—complete with a name, logo, mission statement, budgets, marketing plan, fundraising efforts, and community outreach. As the event hosts, they’ll showcase their hard work and share the journey of building a theatre from scratch.
|
All the work from all three classes will come together on Saturday, November 16th! Parents, families, and friends are invited to walk to brand new theatre ______________'s* Open House!
(*Yet to be discovered and created by our Company Class!) |
